Frequently Asked Questions

How do I upgrade to the latest version of Thor?
You need these three files

  1. thor24_main.lha
  2. thor24_inet.lha
  3. thor24_arexx.lha

Unpack the first and run UpdateThor. This will install Thor 2.4
The installer will ask you for the inet and arexx archives and unpack them as required. For internet access you don't need the BBS modules, so answer no to this question during installation.
Thor 2.5 is currently in pre-release, for registered users only. You can get it from the Thor home page.

How do I upgrade my copy of AWeb
AWeb is now a commercial package. Version 2.1 is available from Blittersoft Tel: 01908 261466 email: sales@blittersoft.com

You can download a demo version of AWeb 2.1 (444K) from here.
To use this with the Wirenet package, run the AWeb installer and select AmiTCP: as the directory to install in. This will create a directory called AWeb21DEMO. Rename your old AWeb directory to AWeb.old and then rename the new one to AWeb

The WWW button on dashboard will now start the new demo. You may then delete your AWeb.old directory, after first copying your hotlist to the new directory, plus any arexx scripts you may have installed.

How do I upload it?
FTP to www.<hostname>.u-net.com, replacing <hostname> with your hostname. Give your hostname and login password, don't log in as anonymous. This will put you in your own directory on the server, where to can simply upload the files. Remember that the Unix system on which the WWW server runs is case-sensitive. This means that home.html and Home.html are treated as different files. Your home page must be home.html. More information on this can be found in the U-Net instructions.

Whatever you do, do not delete or edit any files in BBS0. Instead select Pack/Purge from the General menu in Thor. This will delete all messages older than the configured expiry time. It is set to seven days by default, except for mail which is set for no expiry. You can set these in the Global, System and Conference configurations.
